Butterfly Garden - multi-console butterflies take over in 2008
Earlier today I listened to a great interview that Uncle Gamer Radio recorded with Shayne Guilano from Autonomous Productions, makers of the upcoming XBLA and Wii Virtual Console game Butterfly Garden. It's amazing to hear of all the complex (and minute) interactions, butterfly manipulations, cross-breeding, gene travel, plant management, and mating requirements - all in an arcade-sized morsel. Just like RoboBlitz, Butterfly Garden will be procedurally generated, resulting in a tiny game packed with a lot of action.
Interestingly enough, it almost sounds like the Wii VC version (which is supposed to come out first) might be more fun, what with Wii Remote operated flight mechanics, and inter-garden access using the WiiConnect 24 technology. I wonder if the 360 version will look better or if it will implement its own exclusive features, probably related to Xbox Live.
The unfortunate part is that the developers are looking at a spring 2008 release date. Gasp! And they want to spend six months polishing the game. Double gasp! By then WiiConnect and XBLA could look quite different from their current incarnations.
