Who watches the Watchmen? Best Buy and Xbox Live.

The dashboard has a new section highlighting a bunch of Watchmen-related content, including a promotion starting at Best Buy this Sunday.AI leaked scan of the upcoming ad confirms it, although it doesn’t really add any more details beyond what is already stated in the dashboard panel.

Apparently you just need to buy a 360 console or an “Xbox Live product” – which I am guessing is anything under Best Buy’s Xbox Live category – and you get a special package that includes 2 tickets for the movie and what I assume is a download token for some Watchmen content from the Marketplace.

A few people have already managed to get this free item in advance of the sale. The tickets seem to be vouchers you can redeem online. Nothing very descriptive has yet been posted about this “exclusive” Marketplace content, apart from it not being all that special. That’s a shame, since I was hoping for a nice premium theme, some gamerpics, and maybe a bunch of behind the scenes content related to both the movie and the upcoming XBLA game.

At any rate, if you are going to see the movie anyway, it seems like a good deal, given that even the cheapest Xbox Live Gold card should qualify, and the free ticket value will exceed the cost of it. Too bad I already have a pair of IMAX tickets for the opening weekend through Fandango.
